Habitat Spotlight: Meet Carly

Carly (above, left) started at Habitat for Humanity of Omaha as an AmeriCorps service member in the Volunteer Services department. She was hired as a full-time staff member in the summer of 2017.

She grew up in David City, NE which is an hour west of Omaha, and moved here for college at UNO.

Carly is a Program Associate in our Family Services department. Since her first day, every day has been different. “In my role I support David in assisting our future homeowners from the day that they are accepted into our program until their closing day,” Carly says.

“We are the front line for helping the homeowners complete sweat equity, educational classes, and as they deal with their daily lives.”

Her essential work items are pen, paper, and sticky notes, joking that “even though I’m a millennial, writing things down keep me sane!”

When she isn’t working hard, Carly can be found doing yoga, “any day of the week you can catch me getting my Namaste on!” She doesn’t have a song of the week, but does enjoy listening to the National Public Radio.

Carly was most surprised by just, “how easy it was to get behind the [Habitat Omaha] mission.” If you are considering a career with Habitat Omaha, Carly adds, “Go for it! Whether you are looking at a volunteer, intern, AmeriCorps, or paid position Habitat [Omaha] and the work this organization is doing in our community is something anybody can get behind. It’s such a gratifying and humbling place to work!”
