Serve Together in Ministry
Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry. Our belief is that all people should have a safe, decent place in which to live. We invite people of all faiths to join our mission to build and renovate quality, affordable houses.
Put Faith Into Action
Our mission is about tearing down walls and building bridges. It is about offering hope, and transforming lives. It is about serving God by serving others. Faith partners are the cornerstone of Habitat Omaha’s ministry to end poverty housing. From Faith Coalitions coming together to sponsor and build homes, to Prayer Partners who help lift up the concerns of Habitat Omaha and its partners, there are many ways to serve. If your congregation or faith organization is interested in finding out more about partnership opportunities with Habitat Omaha, please contact Jenny Schroeder, Volunteer Services Manager, at (402) 884-5782 or email@example.com.
How To Become a Faith Partner
As a Christian housing ministry, Habitat Omaha depends on the commitment of our faith partners. Each faith partner is part of a Coalition. A Coalition consists of numerous churches and other places of worship who come together each year to fundraise and build/renovate a Habitat Omaha home. This year Habitat Omaha’s four coalitions will help build three new homes and renovate one more in the Omaha area.
If your church/faith organization is interested in learning more about Habitat Omaha Coalitions, please contact Volunteer Services Manager Jenny Schroeder at (402) 884-5782 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hope For The World
International Tithe Program
One of the values that Habitat Omaha shares with our faith community is tithing. Habitat Omaha donates a portion of our unrestricted cash donations to further Habitat’s work in other countries. The concept follows an ancient Biblical tradition in which God asked Israel to sacrifice the first crops of the harvest, trusting that the remainder would be enough to carry them throughout the rest of the year. In exchange for this act of faith was a promise of provision: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it” (Malachi 3:10).
This promise, as well as Jesus’ instructions to care for our neighbors and the vulnerable in society, makes tithing a natural component of Habitat’s Christian identity. In essence, it is an act of faith. The Israelites trusted God to provide rain and sun, crops and livestock; Habitat trusts God to provide–through tithe partners–shovels and cement, nails and lumber. Tithe partners help Habitat Omaha in building hope for those living in substandard housing around the globe. Donate now to become a tithe partner.
