Your home is an important part of your family’s financial future. At Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, we help your family build generational wealth through homeownership.
How Transfer on Death Deeds (TODD) WorkDid you know that inaccurate paperwork could mean that your most valuable asset may not remain with your loved ones when you pass? That’s why we help you take control of your home’s future and ensure your family can avoid probate and continue to build generational wealth from your home. Transfer on Death Deeds are a way for you to make sure your home gets passed to a beneficiary of your choice after your death. A TODD allows you to pass on your house without a will. By recording a transfer on death deed, you retain homeownership rights during your lifetime, then the TODD takes effect upon a homeowner’s death, without a need for probate. You can name multiple beneficiaries. It’s a topic that can be hard to talk about, yet it’s one of the most important conversations you can have. At no cost, Habitat Omaha helps make the real estate property transfer process easier for local homeowners. |
Events are held throughout the year at various locations throughout Omaha and Bellevue.
During the TODD Events, volunteer attorneys help prepare individual Transfer on Death Deeds that participants can sign while at the event. All events are provided at no cost.
Note: Registration is required for all events. After completing your online registration, a team member will contact you to reserve a specific time slot. The process takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. A valid form of identification is required to complete documents at the event.
