Habitat for Humanity in Sarpy County
Habitat for Humanity has been helping to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter in Sarpy County since 1994. By partnering with first-time homeowners, members of the faith community, local businesses, and neighbors who believe in our vision—a world where everyone has a decent place to live—we are able to expand access to homeownership in our area.
In July 2020, Habitat Sarpy County and Habitat Omaha united under the name “Habitat for Humanity of Omaha” to build opportunity by further expanding access to homeownership, home improvement resources, and financial planning and homeowner readiness programs throughout Burt, Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington counties.
Through this partnership, we have combined the infrastructure, resources and dedicated volunteers and advocates from both organizations to better serve our community.
Habitat is about more than swinging a hammer—though that’s important too! We rely on the dedication and generosity of our volunteers to further our mission. In order to expand access to quality homeownership opportunities that families can afford, we have a wide variety of opportunities available for volunteers from all walks of life. Home Improvement Opportunities
Through Habitat Omaha’s Home Improvement Programs, we partner with qualified families to assist with a variety of projects, from larger-scale exterior repairs to smaller-scale energy efficiency upgrades. Our programs range from grant-funded, no cost options to no-interest loans. The purpose of these programs is to help working families maintain their homes and to keep the community thriving. You do not need to be a Habitat Omaha homeowner to apply for these programs. Learn more about our Home Improvement Programs now.
Habitat Omaha helps make homeownership attainable and affordable for first-time home buyers who may not be able to purchase a home through traditional means. Through the Homeownership Program, individuals and families are empowered to become successful homeowners by gaining hands-on construction experience and attending financial and homeownership workshops. They then purchase their home through an affordable Habitat Omaha loan.
We will not be accepting applications for this area in 2021. If you are interested in applying for homeownership in Omaha, you can learn more about our current opportunities here.
Everyone deserves a decent place to live. Your gift helps provide Sarpy County families in need of a quality home they can afford the opportunity to purchase their first house. With your support, we’ll continue to expand access to homeownership throughout our community. Donate now.
