Service Areas
Founded in 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Omaha builds and renovates homes, advocates for better laws and regulations and partners with those who share our vision, “a world where everyone has a decent place to live.” We started our work in Omaha and expanded to Washington County in 2007, Waterloo in 2014, Burt County in 2016 and Sarpy County in 2020.
By expanding our service area, we are able to increase the impact of our mission throughout the greater Omaha area. This means that more families gain access to financial and homeowner readiness programs, affordable home improvement solutions, and first-time homeownership opportunities as we help to grow and maintain our community’s stock of quality, affordable homes.

Sarpy County
Habitat for Humanity has been helping to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter in Sarpy County since 1994. By partnering with first-time homeowners, members of the faith community, local businesses, and neighbors who believe in our vision—a world where everyone has a decent place to live—we are able to expand access to homeownership in our area.
In July 2020, Habitat Sarpy County and Habitat Omaha united under the name “Habitat for Humanity of Omaha” to build opportunity by further expanding access to homeownership, home improvement resources, and financial planning and homeowner readiness programs throughout Burt, Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington counties.
Through this partnership, we have combined the infrastructure, resources and dedicated volunteers and advocates from both organizations to better serve our community.
