Global Impact Program
Today, 1.6 billion people around the world live in inadequate shelter. You can help change that statistic by taking action against poverty housing. One way to join the fight is to become part of our Global Impact Program by donating to our Global Impact Fund (Tithe Program) or joining a Global Village mission trip.
Global Village Mission Trips
COVID-19 Update: Habitat for Humanity International has postponed the reopening of its Global Village program through 2021. Habitat International plans to reevaluate in the summer of 2021 to decide if it is safe to begin planning for 2022 Global Village trips.
Do you love to travel but want to be more than a tourist? Do you want to deeply and uniquely experience another country and another culture? We invite you to join a Habitat for Humanity of Omaha Global Village volunteer team and build decent, affordable shelter in a world destination alongside members of the host community. Each trip itinerary is balanced with work, rest, and cultural experiences. No construction experience is necessary. Only a positive attitude and flexibility are required. A Global Village mission trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something truly meaningful, discover a new culture and new friends, and learn some new things about yourself, too. See current opportunities below. For more information, contact Habitat Omaha’s Special Projects Manager, Janneane Gerot, at jgerot@habitatomaha.org.
Global Impact Fund
Because the problem of poverty housing is continuing to grow worldwide, we are committed to sending a percentage of our undesignated donations to the Habitat affiliates overseas with the greatest need and few internal resources to help. Since 1984, we have given more than a million dollars to help families living in poverty housing around the world…but we know we can do more. With your help, we can have a greater impact by increasing our investment in proven solutions that are helping families living in some of the most impoverished places on earth. Your donation to our Global Impact Fund could help support a variety of projects including: water and sanitation, land ownership rights, disaster response and mitigation, new and renovated homes, female housing inheritance rights, and housing microfinance programs.
All programs are grassroots efforts that are formed and implemented by Habitat staff and community members in each country. They are all tailored to the needs of the local population.
