Angela is one of our recent hires who has been with Habitat for Humanity of Omaha since November 2017. Since she has lived in Omaha since she was 8 years old, she “feels native enough.”
Emily has been with Habitat for Humanity of Omaha just over 4 months. She is an Omaha native and a Truman State University graduate. “After working at a nonprofit for 5 years in Kansas City and wrapping up my MPA at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, I decided to make my way back home to Omaha. Teatime with Grandma Kak was a pretty big draw!”
In April 2017, Habitat for Humanity partnered with Kum & Go during their “Home is the Key” campaign for the fourth consecutive year. This year, stores in the Omaha area collected the most money as a percentage of customer traffic, securing funding of $100,000 to build a Habitat home in Omaha! The home, slated for completion in early 2018, will be purchased by Nyapak and her family through an affordable mortgage.
On June 28, 2017, with excitement and sparkling cider, we toasted the start of the 10th Habitat Omaha home built and sponsored by TD Ameritrade. Since 2007, TD Ameritrade has been partnering with Habitat Omaha to transform lives through homeownership. In total, they have invested more than $1.6 million in our community through Habitat Omaha.
WoodmenLife celebrates patriotism in many ways, including presenting United States and religious flags to non-profit and community organizations. The 2016 Builder’s Blitz marked the fifth year WoodmenLife partnered with Habitat Omaha to provide flags for Blitz homeowners.
