Angela (above, right), one of our recent hires, has been with Habitat for Humanity of Omaha since November 2017. Because she has lived in Omaha since she was 8 years old, she says she “feels native enough.”
As our Government and Grants Compliance Administrator, Angela’s daily tasks include government and foundation grant applications, reports, and billings.
“My day is filled with a lot of writing and editing of proposals, and stress when it comes to submitting everything on time!” she says.
Her essential office items are earbuds “to focus” and a sharpie “to tackle my to-do list.” A fun fact about Angela is that she was a former roller skating waitress at Rock n’ Roll Runza in downtown Lincoln while she was in college.
Her song of the week is “The Wind” by Cat Stevens. Angela tends to be an average coffee drinker on most days, unless it’s a deadline day. Then the cup count passes 4.
When Angela first joined the Habitat Omaha team, she was most surprised that staff all share 1 office location.
“And I didn’t realize how individualized each Habitat for Humanity International affiliate office is allowed to be,” she adds.
For anyone thinking of joining the Habitat Omaha team, Angela had this piece of advice: “The work atmosphere is great and everyone is really supportive. To succeed here you have to know how to embrace change as we are constantly growing and trying new things!”
