Through our Veterans Repair Program, Habitat Omaha helps those who have served our nation by helping them maintain safe, quality homes that provide a solid foundation for their next pursuits. Meet some of these veterans:
Tony, a Marine Corps veteran, served as a radio operator from 1990 to 1994. Unfortunately, his service left him disabled. His roof was leaking, leaving water spots throughout the house, which would quickly turn into other issues. Habitat Omaha helped repair and replace parts of the roof, gutters and siding around the chimney, and hired heating and air specialists to install a new high-efficiency furnace. “It took a huge load off our minds,” Tony’s wife, Carol, said. Read Tony’s story.
Debbie served in the Air Force and her husband Kenny served in the Marines. Their home was in need of roof repairs and a new HVAC system, and both the front and back steps had become hazardous. Habitat Omaha was able to help. Today, Debbie and Kenny say they feel “so blessed,” and their prayers were answered. Read Debbie and Kenny’s story.
Athena served in the Army as an all-wheel mechanic in 2001 before being medically discharged in 2003. While she was still living on a military post in Louisiana, she purchased a home sight unseen in Omaha. It needed a lot of work. Our Veteran Repair Program helped. “It was, for me, such a blessing,” Athena says. Read Athena’s story.
