For over 20 years, Linda has enjoyed listening to the cardinals that live in the bushes just outside her home. Since her partner, David, passed three years ago, she has lived alone in her home and retired from her career as an office administrator.

Recently, Linda has faced unexpected challenges as a homeowner. Her homeowner’s insurance was cancelled due to the condition of her home. The roof began to leak, and the exterior was coated in lead-based paint, requiring a full repaint.

After getting a recommendation to apply for Habitat for Humanity of Omaha’s Home Repair Program, Linda was accepted. Through the program, she received a new roof and a fresh coat of paint on the exterior of her home. These repairs bring her one step closer to regaining homeowner’s insurance.
