Patrick Kinchler (far right) is the Supply Chain Director at SouthernCarlson. He was first introduced to Habitat for Humanity of Omaha through one of our partners, UPS and Tony Aguilera. Patrick moved to Omaha in order to be closer to family.
Volunteering with Habitat Omaha has inspired Patrick to expand his community service efforts including serving food at a local shelter and community gardening.
“My experience with Habitat Omaha specifically has been within the hospitality house for the Builders Blitz; just being a part of it and providing sponsorship of those that put in the real work is a very satisfying feeling,” he says.
A secret talent of Patrick’s is gardening and growing exotic plants. His song of the week is “Buy Me a Boat” by Chris Janson. Patrick’s coffee intake is limited to one cup a day.
“Homeownership means a lot to me,” he says. “It was a proud moment in my life to purchase my first home because I grew up in apartments, trailers and other rentable housing and I was the first in a couple of generations to buy a house.”
When Patrick first started volunteering with Habitat Omaha, he was most surprised by the shared passion and enthusiasm portrayed by both the staff and volunteers. He says his experience with Habitat Omaha has been overwhelmingly positive.
“The positivity and love for helping flows rampantly through every person that gets involved with the organization.”
Patrick is proud to be a Habitat Omaha volunteer because even though he sees his role in the Builders Blitz as small in comparison, he feels good seeing the smiles of the folks who work hard to purchase their homes. He also loves seeing the transformation of a neighborhood.
