Behind the Build: Workforce Housing

By Giulia Leo, Workforce Housing Supervisor

Conversations with working families about homeownership don’t usually start with questions about mortgage applications or whether they even qualify for a home.

They start with trust.

Sometimes that means Habitat Omaha showing up at the same workplace again and again until employees recognize us. Sometimes it means answering questions during a lunch break or helping someone understand where to begin. Sometimes it means sitting down with a family that has spent years assuming homeownership was out of reach.

What makes Habitat Omaha’s Workforce Program work is the relationship-building behind it.

We’re not just giving a presentation and walking away.

For many Tyson Foods employees, homeownership isn’t just a dream – it’s the foundation for family, faith and a future in America.

We stay connected. We follow up. We help employees work through the things that have held them back, whether that’s their credit history, language barriers, or simply figuring out where to even start.

That’s exactly what we’ve seen through our partnership with Tyson Foods, one of the region’s largest employers.

Habitat Omaha hosted six onsite events at Tyson facilities in 2025, reaching 127 employees directly.

As always, supporters like you make this work possible. Thank you for joining us and for helping your neighbors change their lives.
