Pope Leo Village

Faith in Action.
Community in Motion.
Homes Built with Love.

Habitat for Humanity of Omaha is proud to announce the launch of the Pope Leo Village campaign. This new, multi-city initiative is sponsored and inspired by an anonymous donor committed to Pope Leo’s vision and commitment to serving others. Pope Leo Village was first launched in Chicago, the Pope’s hometown.

The goal of the Pope Leo Village is to inspire and activate young people to volunteer and financially support the work of Habitat for Humanity.

Bringing the Village to Omaha

Pope Leo Village is a community-led campaign to build 20 homes in Omaha’s Bluestem Prairie neighborhood. Volunteers will support framing and siding work across 20 build days, organized through churches, schools, and community groups.

Help us build the Village — its homes and the community behind them. We invite you to volunteer, give, spread the word, or attend campaign events to support this shared path to homeownership.

  • The “Village” is both physical and human. It’s the homes we build and the people who build them, with an emphasis on inviting young people to get involved. Every volunteer, every shared lunch, every moment of service,  and dollar raised adds up to a community rooted in compassion and action.

  • As Pope Leo reminds us, building a society rooted in love and respect requires concrete actions. This campaign is part of a multi-year, multi-city movement to build homes, inspire youth, and unite communities through generosity and action. It is inspired by an anonymous donor committed to Pope Leo’s vision and dedication to social justice, unity, and service to others.

  • Together. Pope Leo Village is shaped by the people who step forward to lead, serve, and build. A Steering Committee will guide and inspire the work with a focus on outreach, hospitality, youth engagement, and fundraising. Our goal is to mobilize at least 600 volunteers and raise $600,000, unlocking matching funds already secured by anonymous donors.

Volunteer at Pope Leo Village

A hands-on way to make a lasting impact. Youth, faith groups, and community teams are invited to help Habitat Omaha build 20 new homes at Bluestem Prairie. No experience needed — we provide the tools and training; you bring the heart to serve.

  • Who Can Volunteer?

This opportunity is ideal for faith communities, youth groups (ages 16+), service clubs, and friends or families who want to serve together. No prior construction experience is needed — Habitat Omaha provides all training and tools on site. We especially welcome youth and faith-based groups to take part in this project, and while fundraising or donating is never required, those who wish to contribute further to Pope Leo Village are always welcome to do so.
