Habitat Spotlight: Meet Corinna

Before coming to Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, Corinna (above, left) was in the field of insurance for 11 years, worked as an events coordinator, and managed restaurants.

“Habitat for Humanity is a beloved nonprofit in Omaha and when I had the opportunity to join this team 7 months ago, I jumped on it!” Corinna says. Born and raised in Omaha, she lived in Lincoln for several years as well.

Corinna is the ReStore Manager at the store near 24th and Leavenworth Streets. Omaha’s Habitat ReStore is all about turning potential “trash” into treasure. The ReStore team intakes, processes and sells gently used household and commercial goods that have been generously donated by the residents of Omaha and surrounding areas. This allows customers to shop at prices well below retail, keeps reusable items out of the landfill and generates revenue for Habitat Omaha.

“I usually start the day running analytical reports for the stores and then getting ready for the store to open for the day,” Corinna says. “Any given day could include helping customers on the sales floor, pricing items for purchase, writing staff schedules, interviewing potential staff members, ordering supplies and purchased goods, accepting items from our generous donors, and working with our amazing employees to ensure a great customer experience.”

Corinna’s essential work item would definitely be her apron since it holds “all of my daily essentials including calculator, pen and paper, keys, and most importantly my tape measure!”

A fun fact about Corinna is her passion for photography and mosaic tile art (sparked by time spent at the ReStore). Her song of the week is “Never Give Up” by Sia, and she’s a tea and soda drinker.

“I love finding new blends of loose leaf teas,” she shares.

One of the first things Corinna noticed when starting at Habitat Omaha was how the staff function as a team.

“It truly feels like we’re all in this together, working towards the mission. Everyone has a seat at the table.”

Corinna is proud to be part of the Habitat Omaha team because “the combined effort of staff, volunteers, and donors makes such a positive impact on our community and I get to be a part of that.”
