Take action today to ensure your vote counts

Elections are an important way to make our voices heard. In an unprecedented year, when so many people have felt the negative economic and health effects of a global pandemic and our nation reckons with racial inequity, your vote is as important as ever.

The election is Tuesday, November 3, but you can take steps now to ensure your vote counts.

• Check to make sure you are registered to vote at your current mailing address here.
• If you are not registered, go to the Nebraska Secretary of State website to register.
• The Douglas and Sarpy County Election Commissions sent early ballot applications to all registered voters already. The Nebraska Secretary of State announced this week that the state will send early ballot applications to all registered voters in counties that have not announced plans to send applications to every registered voter. Complete and send the early voting application right away.
• When your ballot arrives, fill it out and mail it back or deliver it to a local ballot drop box. Drop box locations are available online for Douglas County and Sarpy County.
• If you plan to vote in-person, make a plan for how you will vote. You can vote early in-person at your county election office 30 days before the general election. Or, if you plan to go to your polling place on Election Day, you can confirm where it is here.
• Now that you have the steps down, encourage your friends and family to vote too!

Non-partisan information is available ahead of the election to help you understand who and what will be on your ballot in November. The League of Women Voters and Vote411.org will soon post voter guides so you know what you can expect to see on your ballot.
