Redefining His Dream: Dewayne’s Path to Homeownership

For years, Dewayne stopped by Habitat Omaha’s office to complete his taxes with hopes of homeownership.  

Being a single man, who rented a small one-bedroom apartment, he never thought homeownership was attainable. That is until the former Chief of Construction, Drew Lier, approached Dewayne. He explained to Dewayne that homeownership was not just for large families, but for everyone, and that he too could become a homeowner. (Lier is now Owner and CEO of Lier Development Group.) 

Dewayne’s mind opened to the possibility of owning a home. He applied for homeownership and was able to move into a Villa at Bluestem.  

As he begins his new journey of homeownership, he is excited for more “independence with no rules to live by.” His former apartment did not allow grilling, making it hard for Dewayne to host his family or friends. Dewayne now has a space for his family to stay when they visit and a patio to grill freely.
