What is Rock the Block?

Rock the Block events encourage and inspire people to become active participants in their neighborhoods, helping to transform a neighborhood one block at a time. Habitat Omaha conducts Rock the Blocks in its five-county area as part of our effort to provide and preserve affordable housing. During these events, volunteers and residents work together on projects like exterior repairs, landscaping and neighborhood clean-up, creating safer, more vibrant communities. By joining a Rock the Block, you’re not just improving homes — you’re strengthening connections and fostering pride in the place we call home.

  • Neighborhood Clean Up

Habitat Omaha Neighborhood Clean-up Days bring neighborhoods together while also making a positive impact on the environment. We rotate locations and encourage nearby residents to bring larger, bulky trash items for disposal in a dumpster. You can bring old furniture, appliances, mattresses, and more. Note: Please do not bring items such as paint, TVs or electronics, batteries, chemicals, or propane tanks.

Habitat Omaha loves connecting with the community! Throughout the year, we host booths at a variety of local events to share our mission, answer questions and engage with neighbors. These events are an excellent opportunity to learn more about our programs and discover ways to get involved. We’re always excited to explore new opportunities — if you’re hosting an event and would like Habitat Omaha to participate, we’d love to hear from you.
