Home Deconstruction

Planning a remodeling project? Let us help! Habitat Omaha’s Home Deconstruction Program is an alternative to traditional demolition. Our deconstruction team can dismantle and salvage non-structural elements inside your home to repurpose and sell the materials at our ReStore, with proceeds benefiting local homeowners.

Save Time and Money with Habitat Omaha

Instead of paying a contractor and renting a dumpster, our Deconstruction program can help you save demo costs and disposal hassles. Focus on your remodel while we handle the rest.

We will work with you and your contractor, if applicable, to facilitate the deconstruction of your quality materials. Removal and delivery of your donated items is also covered through
a grant funded by the NE Environmental Trust.

Free Cabinet Removal, Counter Removal and More

Habitat Omaha will carefully remove your unwanted items for free, including:

  • Cabinets
  • Sinks
  • Counters
  • Bathroom vanities
  • Appliances
  • Doors
  • Trim
  • Lumber

… and more

How Does Home Deconstruction Work?

  • Contact Omaha’s Habitat ReStore Deconstruction Line at 402-884-6393 to schedule an assessment of your project, during which we will schedule a time to visit the home and determine which items we can recover and reuse.
  • A trusted team carefully removes your cabinets, sinks, appliances, doors or other items from your home. (Don’t worry, we leave your project site clean and ready for the next phase!)
  • You receive a tax-deductible, itemized receipt for the salvageable items you donate. Many people choose to make an additional financial donation to help offset the labor cost and ensure the program remains sustainable.
  • We sell your donations in the ReStore to raise funds for building more affordable housing across our five-county area.

Project Demolition

Habitat also partners with the City of Omaha to demolish condemned houses. Unsafe homes can pose a threat to neighborhood residents and property values. If you own or know of a property to be demolished, please contact Dan Brewer at dbrewer@habitatomaha.org or (402) 884.7590.

Thank you in advance for helping the Habitat Omaha Deconstruction Program keep good materials from the landfill.
