David (pictured above, right) has been with Habitat for Humanity of Omaha for 10 ½ years. For 9 years he served as the director of Omaha’s Habitat ReStore. Now, he’s part of Habitat Omaha’s Family Services team. He’s also an Omaha native and former Creighton Bluejay.
As a Program Specialist in our Family Services department, David says, “My day ranges from meeting with our future homeowners, going over house plans, and touring potential houses, to working with the construction team on timelines to communicate back to families, answering all sorts of questions for our families, and helping with escrow and insurance premium questions…all before 10 am.”
His essential work items are his Contigo coffee tumbler and pictures from the 3 Global Village trips that he’s taken: Haiti, Costa Rica, and Zambia.
David has a passion for photography and looks forward to experimenting with his new Canon once Mother Nature allows the opportunity. His song of the week is “This Is Me” from the movieTheGreatest Showman.
He is also a coffee connoisseur, drinking 3 to 4 cups a day. But not just any coffee, he prefers to get his daily blend from Costa Rica or Kenya.
When David started at Habitat Omaha, he was surprised to find that “my worst day was still better than my best day at any other job I have had.” If you are thinking of joining our team, David’s advice to you is: “Do it! It will fill your soul!”
