Cost of Home

Cost of Home Conversations

Stable housing — housing that is safe, healthy and affordable — is foundational for individuals and families, the communities in which we live, and our local economy.

We’re hosting a series of virtual Cost of Home Conversations to talk with members of our community about housing in our area. Join us as we explore what the cost of home really means and how we can ensure everyone has access to a quality home they can afford.

Women Build: Cost of Home Conversation

Right now, as home is even more important, our community is facing unique challenges when it comes to housing. In honor of International Women’s Day 2021, our CEO, Amanda Brewer, was joined by Habitat Omaha homeowner Cynthia Stubblefield and Nebraska State Senator Tony Vargas to discuss the ways women are impacted by these challenges, and how the economic impacts of COVID-19 continue to unfold.

Opportunity in Bellevue: Cost of Home Conversation

One of the biggest challenges for Bellevue homebuyers is finding affordably priced houses on the market. After historic flooding hit Nebraska in 2019, many of these houses were wiped out, while the increasing cost of materials and land has made rebuilding more expensive. During this Cost of Home Conversation, Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike talks about how he sees new partnerships with organizations like Habitat Omaha as a way to bring needed workforce housing to the city.
