Helping Clear the Way for Growth

May 14, 2024

Habitat Omaha is working in partnership with the Omaha Jesuit Academy and Leeds Built Construction to deconstruct and demo two 1900s-era homes to clear the way for the academy’s growth, but not before we save the parts of each home that can be reused.

These properties, over 100 years old, while not in good shape, boasted a ton of hidden gems like heavy-duty pocket doors, crown molding, windows and stunning vintage framing. Items that will be appreciated by vintage builders and remodelers while also keeping these reusable materials out of the landfill.

All reusable items have been carefully deconstructed and are available for purchase at our ReStores. Next, our partners will start the demolition to make way for the expansion of the Jesuit Academy. About our Deconstruction Program: Habitat ReStore staff will facilitate the deconstruction donation of salvageable materials with labor provided by either the client’s contractor or ours. All donated items will then be sold through Omaha’s Habitat ReStores with the proceeds going to build more Habitat homes in our community. It’s free and environmentally responsible! A real win-win!
