Today, 1.6 billion people around the world live in inadequate shelter. You can help change that statistic by taking action against poverty housing. One way to join the fight is to become part of our Global Impact Program by donating to our Global Impact Fund (Tithe Program) or joining a Global Village mission trip.
Global Village Mission Trips
Do you love to travel but want to be more than a tourist? Do you want to deeply and uniquely experience another country and another culture? We invite you to join a Habitat for Humanity of Omaha Global Village volunteer team and build decent, affordable shelter in a world destination alongside members of the host community. Each trip itinerary is balanced with work, rest, and cultural experiences. No construction experience is necessary. Only a positive attitude and flexibility are required. A Global Village mission trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something truly meaningful, discover a new culture and new friends, and learn some new things about yourself, too. See current opportunities below. For more information, contact Habitat Omaha’s Faith and Special Projects Manager, Janneane Gerot, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Current Opportunity: Guatemala, Nov. 4-12, 2017
Habitat Omaha is sending a team of young professionals from the Omaha area to build a home in partnership with a family in need in Sololá, Guatemala. Spend a week learning about a new culture, making new friends, and helping to provide affordable housing for Guatemala’s rural poor.
Who can participate
Anyone between the ages of 18-45 would be a good fit for this young professionals trip. The trip will involve manual labor, so all participants should be in good health.
