Habitat For Humanity of Omaha

Habitat for Humanity Omaha does not only build new homes, they also take homes in the North Omaha area and rehab them.  This home at 3327 N. 40^th Ave. is the most recent rehab and will be sponsored by the ELF Coalition.

Habitat for Humanity Omaha is working toward building Energy Star Qualified homes. 3323 Manderson Street will be one of the first homes to be Energy Star Qualified. The first step toward being Energy Star Qualified is photographed above by the effective insulation installed. The insulation will ensure even temperature around the house, reduce energy use and increase comfort. Following the installation of insulation is the attaching drywall.  After the drywall was installed the subcontractors came in to mud and tape, a true art form.  Now it is time for the painting.  Photographed above is Gregg, Habitat Omaha's construction supervisor, cutting in the corners. 

This house on Manderson is starting to look more and more like a home.  Over the past week the Habitat for Humanity Omaha Construction Crew have been working tirelessly to complete this house.  The house now has all its trim, doors, vinal flooring, and cabinates installed.  The counter tops in the kitchen are in progress of instalation.  This house is rapidly approaching the finish line.

3315 Manderson Street is being constructed in partnership with Goodwill. The Goodwill Youthbuild program teaches the trade of construction to young adults preparing to take their GED. Youthbuild Omaha is 24 month program for young adults between the ages of 16 to 24.
